Approach to dressage training. Alison treats each horse and rider combination as a unique partnership and encourages her riders to enjoy their dressage training even when it presents challenges. She aims to explain how to improve the horse’s way of going and focus on rider body awareness and dynamic position alongside suggesting exercises to help the horse develop.
Areas covered. Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Chiltern and Thames Region.
Private and/or group sessions. Private, Semi Private and Group training (4-6 riders).
Regular clinics.  As well as Salcey Forest and Wing Alison does Freestyle Design & Choreography Clinics across UK, Hoofbeats Schooling to music classes and Quadrille training in Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire as well as pole work and SJ Clinics at Salcey Forest Ridings.
Current clients include;
Sharon Bickers and Croft’s Avalon. Sharon has recently made a breakthrough with her horse and is now confidently working in all three paces and is preparing for her freestyle debut.
Rachel Crook with Langarth Sebastian and Independence. Rachel has trained with me for six years and won her first BD Points, qualified for Area Festival Finals and competed at Regional Freestyle Champs with Sebastian during this time. Rachel has recently purchased a four year old and we are working our way towards this mare eventing and plan to introduce her to BD this winter.
Objective Review The main theme that comes from Alison’s clients is of patience, confidence building and support to the extent that Alison has created what one client referred to as a “community” where all her clients support each other through a Face Book support group called Solitaire Dressage and at shows.
One client says, “ She goes out of her way to make sure her clients feel they are learning……….and has given me loads of confidence and self belief”. Another says Alison is “so calm clear and encouraging in her training methods and style”.
Alison rarely rides her Client’s horses but does sometimes when teaching a horse a “new move” or just to get a basic feel of the horse but another common comment was Alison’s ability to “read” the clients horses from the ground.
Alison helps her clients with both their riding and the horse, and its way of going. As one client said “harmony is her watchword”.
Alison does come to competitions to help her clients, again with positive comments about that help which is both technical and practical.
Finally there seems to be agreement that whilst Alison makes her Clients work hard, she also makes her lessons fun, to quote a client  “I would never be competing affiliated if it were not for Alison, and more importantly I would never be this confident or having this much fun. She has real empathy for the horses and the humans that she teaches.”
